    I do not think you can blame New York City for this. Perhaps the parents, perhaps the teens, but not the city.

  3. I don't know if our area (SF Bay Area) has these high-priced tutors, but I know that there are lots of parents who wished there were. I tutor creative writing, and I charge $20/hour for a small group, and these parents are waiting in line to shell out this money. And then they all want advice on how to get their 10-year old into an Ivy League school.
