Pinkwater Book

The Fans of Pinkwater (FOPs for short) number in the millions. I don't know if it's the man's NPR show, his prolific writing abilities, or the staying power of Lizard Music, but it is not wise to cross a Daniel Pinkwater fan. Personally, I'm probably more a fan of his middle name. It's Manus. How cool is that?

Anywho, Mr. P has a new book coming out soon. Here's the skinny, via its website:

THE NEDDIAD will be published by Houghton Mifflin in April, 2007. Lucky web-readers will have a chance to partake in a death-defying feat of literary razzle-dazzle: the online serialization of the complete text of THE NEDDIAD, unedited and unchanged from the day it left the hands of its creator. Chapter One is now online, and, beginning August 1st, 2006, one new chapter will be posted every Tuesday.

At first I thought that this meant that he would remove each subsequent chapter from the site as they came out. Nope. Chapter One is still mighty visible with no signs of its imminent demise. View as you prefer. This is either the future of publishing or a teensy tiny drop in the ocean.

    Hurrah! I'm still a die-hard fan of Guys From Space. I should have had "We are space guys. We know what we are doing" in my sig file at some point.

    I used to read my students FAT MEN FROM SPACE every year. Those rotund invaders with their fancy belt buckles and plaid sports jackets were after all of Earth's potato pancakes. And junk food. Yikes! Hide the Twinkies!
