Children's literature is not for the weak. It is a ruthless cutthroat business with lots of gnashes of the teeth. Children's librarianship, in contrast, is a sweet sweet ride. Now you can hear me as I growl, gargle, and kvetch my way through news, reviews, and interviews. Kidlit podcasting = scary new world.

A Note For Those of You Planning On Seeing the 1967 Casino Royale With Peter Sellers
It was the Austin Powers of its day. Which is to say, it makes Austin Powers look like something by Ingmar Bergman. I never would have considered Mike Myers subtle, but after seeing Casino Royale...
Well, we determined that not being high was definitely a minus. I don't recall his outfits, unfortunately. I mean, I liked the one piece stripey number. Don't get me wrong, I think Sellers is the cat's pajamas. But... okay, when was the last time you saw it? Just sit down and watch it start to finish. Aside from being a fun source of, "Oh, THAT's why Austin Powers has a Scot in his movies and music by Burt Bacharach", it's essentially unwatchable.
I mean, the Orson Welles card tricks. The card tricks, man!

ReplyDeleteCasino Royale was my first Bond film. I haven't worked up the courage to see another one yet.
ReplyDeleteOh come on. Casino Royale is the ULTIMATE Sellers fashion show. How can you not love it?
