A Year In Reading Wraps Up

They've read all year. They are determined to have at least perused the Newbery winner before it comes out. Now the time is soon to come and A Year In Reading has put out their top Newbery picks. They've also a list of their Caldecott picks as well.

And while we appreciate the inclusion of Fly by Night, sadly it ain't possible. Which, as it turns out, they know. God bless, 'em. Here's hoping they write a follow-up piece on why they chose what they chose.

Fusenumber8 - and gentle readers

Is there any discussion on the Mock Coretta Scott King awards? Looking at today's post, I just realize that I haven't come across any anticipation for this important children's literature award on various children's literature blogs. A google search lead me to:

Thanks for your insights!

Thanks for the shout out--good idea about the follow-up. We should do that. Maybe that's what we'll do this week in anticipation of next Monday:-) I havea a few more books that I am trying to fit in before the Newbery is announced too after seeing other lists.

Kyra, I agree about the Coretta Scott King Award. I haven't read much about it at all and i is another important one.

A fabulous idea. You hear Newbery and Caldecott speculations all the time whereas the Coretta Scott King often gets the shaft. This is deserving of its own blog posting. I'll put one up tomorrow on your recommendation. Do you have any picks of your own?
