I swear, Blogger has to post this info somewhere so dummies like myself know this sort of thing. I don't want to go around stealing bandwith. Sounds nasty. From here on in I shall do no such thing. It's good to learn about this stuff, no?fusenumber8https://www.blogger.com/profile/16216979020263363698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15089389.post-1147397545564172862006-05-11T21:32:00.000-04:002006-05-11T21:32:00.000-04:00It's bad netiquette because every time the page is...It's bad netiquette because every time the page is viewed it uses bandwidth from the originator site, which many places pay for; it's considered stealing (ie, like using someone elses electricity).

some articles for you:

http://www.lalaalyssa.com/aly/directlinking.html

http://grimthing.com/archives/2004/04/02/hotlinking-is-bad/

http://www.zathras.de/angelweb/donthotlink.htmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15089389.post-1144277894026557692006-04-05T18:58:00.000-04:002006-04-05T18:58:00.000-04:00Bad netiquette, eh? I don't particularly care if it's taken down someday, and I've found ways around the problems associated with scaling it down with code. But this bad netiquette idea is disturbing to me. Obviously no one ever told me this before. Therefore I must ask, why is it bad? Because I'm not hosting the site? Please to expand upon this theme.fusenumber8https://www.blogger.com/profile/16216979020263363698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15089389.post-1144263927425254102006-04-05T15:05:00.000-04:002006-04-05T15:05:00.000-04:00hot linking to other sites is considered bad netiq...hot linking to other sites is considered bad netiquette.

http://www-news.uchicago.edu/releases/05/050317.gaiman.jpg

Plus...one day that image may be taken down and then the image will not display on your page.

Plus...scaling down a big image like that with code distorts the image causing it to render poorly on your site.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15089389.post-1144186932720420212006-04-04T17:42:00.000-04:002006-04-04T17:42:00.000-04:00Oh doggone it, Dan. But I'd be lying if I said I hadn't read all the Sandman issues. I haven't tried any of his books, though.Dan McCoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16231241053500980570noreply@blogger.com
