Horn Book Gossip
Actually, it probably doesn't count as gossip since it was posted widely on Roger Sutton's blog in the first place, but it appears that Horn Book Magazine was threatened with legal action from a publisher. The reason? Bad reviews. Of course now EVERYBODY wants to know who this publisher is. I can only assume that they're rather small and unclear of how the law works.

Have you ever heard from an author or publisher regarding your reviews? Good or bad?

Oh yes! Yes yes yes! Just today I heard from the illustrator of "The Remembering Stone" saying she like my review and my blog. Under normal circumstances people send me happy thanks-for-your-review e-mails. Those make my day. Only once did an author write in a fury over a review I'd written back in 2003 or so. This was when I was first getting into reviewing and the book I had just read (which shall remain nameless) was the worst example of post-apocalypic excess. The author was mad but after I suggested posting his response at the end of my review he mollified quickly and even sent me an ARC of his latest book. Which was a post-apocalyptic monstrosity. Needless to say, the review is still forthcoming.
I cannot figure out for the life of me how a review can be construed as "misinformation" unless someone does it who says a factually accurate book is not factually accurate? Cause otherwise how can opinion be misinformation?
BTW, from one long blog name to another, do you ever think, hey, why didn't I pick a simple short blog name? I'm thinking of using the nickname Tea Cozy cause the nickname Chair sounds weird and A chair a fireplace and... it's just so long to write!!
I've had the far worse problem of trying to tell people what the web address of this blog is. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to mix numbers and words. Now every time I try to tell somebody my blog name I end up saying, "Okay, it's fuse (which is a word) number (which is also a word) eight (with is a number) at blogspot dot com". When I say, "eight", I also have to do the physical drawing of the number eight in the air in front of their nose. This is especially embarrassing if I'm in a hot club or bar and look as if I'm teaching my companions what numbers look like. *sigh*
I thought my URL name was obvious (yzocaet is tea cozy spelled backwords) and used that because it seemed everything else was taken, but there a few people who have said it took them a while to figure it that out.
Few people = me until just now
