Children's literature is not for the weak. It is a ruthless cutthroat business with lots of gnashes of the teeth. Children's librarianship, in contrast, is a sweet sweet ride. Now you can hear me as I growl, gargle, and kvetch my way through news, reviews, and interviews. Kidlit podcasting = scary new world.
Understanding Comics is a great book about appreciating art...not just the art of comics (which I now see as a much "higher" art after reading this book). It's one of my faves and I can't wait to check out the follow-up. Thanks!
I would think that someone who undertakes to teach us about comics would be able to come up with a cover for his own book less dull and unimaginative than this one.
