Covers

Recently Cheryl Klein was participating in a child_lit discussion concerning covers and how they come about. On the subject she has given us this piece on her own blog, with special attention paid to her recent cover:

And posting on the same day, a bit of kiddie lit kismet, George O'Connor shows us some of the alternate covers he considered for his book Journey Into Mohawk Country.

    I am going through the cover process right now...and I hope it's not pink!

    Fingers crossed. Fortunately I've only seen pink prominently on a very few YA novels this year. "Sweet Sixteen" and stuff like that. You may be in the clear. Unless your book is about pretty pretty princesses, of course. Then you're screwed.
