Children's literature is not for the weak. It is a ruthless cutthroat business with lots of gnashes of the teeth. Children's librarianship, in contrast, is a sweet sweet ride. Now you can hear me as I growl, gargle, and kvetch my way through news, reviews, and interviews. Kidlit podcasting = scary new world.
Meghan McCarthy would have you believe that in every single Chris Van Allsburg book there is at least one sighting of a spotted dog. I stand amazed. And here I thought I knew my stuff. Just goes to show, eh?
I noticed in a long-ago article about him that CVA has a toy version of that dog (but close to actual size--a pull-toy of some kind?) in his attic studio... it always seemed weird to me that he was never asked about the dog in interviews.
I think you mean Meghan McCarthy.
