Children's literature is not for the weak. It is a ruthless cutthroat business with lots of gnashes of the teeth. Children's librarianship, in contrast, is a sweet sweet ride. Now you can hear me as I growl, gargle, and kvetch my way through news, reviews, and interviews. Kidlit podcasting = scary new world.

Reminder: Drink Your Alcohol
Or your iced tea. Whatever floats your boat. The point is that this Monday at 6:00 we're having our Kidlit Drink Night (name pending) at our old haunt Sweet & Vicious. Please come. Special Guest Star Jennifer Armstrong will be on hand alongside countless editors, authors (I know we'll get a couple Longstockings in the joint), illustrators, and of course me. Your friendly average everyday children's librarian.
Children's literature, ruthless cut-throat business, & gnashes in the teeth. I should probably dust off the helmet and prepare for warfare. Thanks for scaring the hell out of me with those descriptives.

So . . . you didn't choose a special name for this event. Awww, did "Pink Bunny Night" not stick? Because you get the advantage of referring to it colloquially as "Pinking." And if you decide to wear alluring clothing to the event, you'd then get the bonus of refering to them as your "Pinking Sheers."
ReplyDeleteOr whatever.
Take care and have fun!
Longstockings in the hiz-ouse! Who likes to party like we like to party?
ReplyDeleteOnly Pippi herself.
"Pinking" sounds almost wrong though. I'm not sure I could face my co-workers if I told them I had a night of "pinking" ahead of me. Then again, it adds a bit of je ne sais quoi to my otherwise humble existence.
ReplyDeleteOoo! Just got a cool idea for future events. Longstockings should totally rumble with The Blue Rose Girls. Or maybe the Class of 2k7 instead. It could be like "West Side Story" only significantly less threatening.
Hey, you need to have another of these over the Christmas holidays so I can attend. I'll be in Connecticut -- a very short drive away.
ReplyDeleteI never forget my alcohol :D
