Money, please

No, not for me. Yet.
No, I'm referring to God-amongst-bloggers Bookslut and her recent posting on the importance of giving money to your local library. Specifically your children's room in the library. And since I work in a children's room that has been repeatedly denied funding to refurbish it time and time again (the L.A. Public Library's Central Children's Room makes us look just awful!) I back Ms. Slut's comments wholeheartedly.

The weeks leading up to the budget vote at Town Meeting every year are always so stressful. Some of the same people that complain that we don't have enough bestsellers (or whatever it is they want) are the same ones that vote against our (tiny!) budget increases. It's so frustrating.

Yup yup yup. It's even more twisted when you live in New York City. Every year our budget gets slashed and every years we slooooowly build it back up. Then the new fiscal year comes along and SLASH! *sigh*

I don't doubt it. At least with Town Meeting, we can glare at people that argue/vote against us. It's much more personal. Heh.
