US and Egypt will give every public school 700 new books

No word on what kinds of books the kids get. We hear mentions of Magic School Bus and Winnie-the-Pooh but I somehow doubt the Snow White stories they receive will be of the Nancy Ekholm Burkert variety. Or maybe I'm just cynical... The caption on the photograph that read " Discovering Disney" did nothing to off-set my fears, though.

Just wanted to leave a note to say that I found your blog through the Carnival over at Chicken Spaghetti and like it quite a lot (find your "Hot men of Children's Literature" list amusing too). Wanted to check if I could add you to my blog roll?

Thanks,

Louise

Add away! And if you have any other suggestions for my Hot Men of Children's Literature series, let me know. I'm thinking of doing Shel Silverstein next (though it's hardly a popular opinion).

Corpses are not hot. Neither are men capable of inflicting The Giving Tree on a trusting public. But have you done Peter Sis yet? -- rams

Sis? Sis is a perfectly nice fella but not so much with the hot. However, I got a lead on the illustrator for Kate DiCamillo's, "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", so I think he's both a) Alive and b) Not responsible for "The Giving Tree". It's win win.
