My Pseudo-Profession

A rather well-written and insightful article appeared in the Boston Globe this week on web criticism. The article notes the importance of review sites like Amazon.com and by and large avoids making the sweeping generalizations about online reviewers we hear so often from the professionals. Critical Mass, the blog of the national book critics circle board of directors, offered some interesting opinions of their own on their site. Both are well worth checking out.

I learned over the weekend that Amazon customer reviews are a big, fat, hairy deal to authors and book biz folks.

Dang, guess this means I have to start posting there as well. Just what I need -- more unpaid work!

Oh consarn it. I'm sorry. I seriously had every intention of mentioning that in this article. I loved your piece on how everyone would ask you if you reviewed on Amazon. Honestly, though, just copy everything you review already onto their site. That's what I do.

I'll have to make a new posting for your site. Probably tomorrow.
