Oh, Frabjous Day!
I cannot believe this. I'm so happy I can hardly type.
There's a sequel to Dandelion Wine, only THE greatest summertime book ever written, coming out soonish.
Haven't read Dandelion Wine? Go. Go and read. I don't care how many books are in your To Be Read pile. I don't care if you're under the mistaken impression that you need to eat or sleep or shower or what have you. Go go go go go.
Thanks to Gail Gauthier for the link.

You'd think, wouldn't you. You'd think to be excited and breathless and maybe you'd like to curl up in one of the last patches of summer sun to read it, since you always use the first patches of summer sun to read Dandelion Wine.
Well, all I hope is that it doesn't break your heart in the same quiet adjective-laden way it broke mine. It's not terrible...it's just...
"So endeth this chronicle. It being strictly a history of a BOY, it must stop here; the story could not go much further without becoming the history of a MAN."
Ah, you are so sweet. Dandelion Wine is everything you say and more. It is also a glorious accident, a vehicle for various stories he had kicking around -- and how do you write the (fifty years later?) sequel to an accident? On purpose. Likely to work? Hmmm.
But we love you. We will comfort you. Find the damned cable to your camera.
I'm glad to see someone else is pumped up about this. I would have thought this book would be getting a great deal more attention than I've noticed. The professional reviews posted at Amazon have been good.
At this point in the proceedings, "not terrible" is all I require.
Oh camera caaaable....
