On Mother Reader

Mother Reader met Mo Willems.
Mother Reader met Mo Willems and used me as an opener.
Mother Reader has more guts than I will ever have.

I want to be Mother Reader.

You know, I would have not accosted Mo so directly if I had been at a normal venue. There is a certain protocol to real book events whereby everyone would like to talk to the author, so no one does because then it wouldn't really be fair. And if everyone broke the rule about talking to the authors, then the authors would be overrun by fans, which would be downright scary. At this particular venue for child care providers, I would doubt more then twenty people even knew who Mo was, in direct contrast to me. I mean, I've even seen Sheep in the Big City. I felt a bit entitled to access. And, yes, I can be quite gutsy at times.

I do have a new idea for me and for you. I am making up business cards with my website. It is pretty accepted to hand people your business card. Try it. If anyone should be getting their name - or fake name - out there, it's you.

I was planning on printing out some cards before ALA, in the event that the business ones I ordered from my library didn't come to me before then. Good old cards. In this age of electronic whozy-whatsits they're still a necessity.

It's sitting on my bedside table as I speak. Every night I read another "chapter". I figure they begin and end with the maps. A review is forthcoming.
