Two News Items, Each More Beautiful Than the Last

I don't know where to begin.

Oh, who'm I kidding?

Variety reports that Martin Scorsese is a potential director for Brian Selznick's, Invention of Hugo Cabret. There. Now it's out. Obviously none of this is set in stone. It's at the speculation stage right now. What we do know for certain is that the screenwriter is one John Logan of Gladiator/Aviator (he likes "tors") fame. Stirring, no?

And then there's the Inkheart movie. Dark Horizons has been kind enough to post some photo stills from the shoot. Here are my top 3 picks:

Dustfinger looks a bit drugged out, but in a good way. It works for him.

Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm still not seeing this guy as Mo. The guy with the words on his face, though? Nice look.

Words fail me. I doubt they'll fail the critics.

I want to cry. Brendon (sp?) Frasier is definitely NOT my idea of a good Mo. I think it may already be ruined for me and I LOVE that book. Anyways, if he didn't ruin it for me, that last picture sure did. Somehow that's just not how I pictured Meggie and Farid.

I didn't care for the book.

I do, however, want her tights/socks. YES.

Please let me know when they release Tinker Bell pictures! :)

Somehow I just don't think Meggie would look that *cool*. Though now that I think of it, there's no reason she wouldn't.

Tinkerbell didn't make the cut, as I heard it. They replaced her with a different fictional character who now escapes me.

Can't remember who, though. I'll find out.

on IMDB it says someone is playing Rapunzel....so maybe that's it

and Brennan doesn't make a very good Mo imho. but I think he'll be a good Blue Jay. if they make it that far =]

Dude(s): I've always envisioned Mo as Brendan Fraser, even before I knew they were making an Inkheart movie. He'll do great, I know it. :)
I agree that Farid is kinda a fail here.
One thing I can say for sure: Dustfinger looks great! My eyes popped when I saw him; looks so much like he should.
But...Andy Serkis as Capricorn...so odd.

I dislike Farid and Mo, Dustfinger should have black hair, not blonde, and Meggie is so HOT!!!!=]

Meggie Folchart is a major hottie, Dustfinger's good, but Mo... NOT so much.

Gwin: Good, but HORNLESS
Dustfinger: YES! Love him... not cute but somehow charming

I don't see him as Mo.
Farid is kinda blech
Where's Basta?
Gwin has horns, but not Gwin really.
Dustfinger does not look,well,right.
Meggie, well, she didn't look like 'Meggie'. She looked more like 'Supermodel'

I think that Dustfinger looks pretty good-lookin in that picture, pretty much how I imagined him.

This movie was totally ruined for me.
If Paul Bettany or Brendon(Brenon?IDK)Fraiser didn't ruin it, Farid did. He changed to normal clothes after he becomes Dustfinger's apprentice. But noooo he stays arabian.
Meggie,better.
THEY FORGOT TO SCAR DUSTFINGER IN SOME WAY! That's just wrong.

I actually liked this movie. I was a bit disappointed by the sheer briefness and some of the things they had to leave out, but hey, if they had left in everything, it'd be a 5-hour movie, and no one would sit through that, and therefore it would've horribly bombed.

Finding out that Brendan Fraser was going to be Mo shocked me in a bad way at first, but when I saw it played out, it didn't disappoint me too much - it was just a bit funny to see this blatantly American guy among this almost all-British cast. I don't think he royally sucked.

Dustfinger's scars were not as visible as one would imagine them to be, but they showed when they were supposed to be most obvious. I thought the actor for him did an amazing job at showing just how desperately lonely and homesick the character was supposed to be.
(Plus, Dustfinger - I'm sorry to deviate from the point - was HOT.)

Andy Serkis as Capricorn was not quite what I imagined, but at least it wasn't too bad.

Overall, I think there's a lot to be disappointed with in this movie if your expectations are unrealistically high, but if you remember that they unfortunately have to abridge it for film, then it was truly a good movie.

Really, in the book, they said Dustfinger had LONG GINGER hair not SHORT BLOND. Jeez, you can't imagine how dissapointed I was when I saw them, Dusty is my fave!
But Mo - I thought he would have dark brown hair and a sqareish face, I HATE brendan fraiser. DX
Meggie? I thought she would be a tiny bit of a nerd with long dark brown hair. Not a slutty-looking blondie. UGH!!!
GWIN HAS NO HORNS?!?! WTF is the point of him in the show then?!
Basta. When did he come in? He's one of the main charries...
Capricorn - C'mon peeps, you got it ALL wrong. Do the producers even read the book before they make the movie?!?! Cap. has pale blond hair not black hair, idiots!!!

I'm sorry... but if you go to a movie, expecting it to be EXACTLY like the book, you're an idiot. No movie maker in the world can or will make a movie EXACTLY like the book, word for word, scene for scene. It just doesnt happen that way. A) They dont have the budget for it, B) the movie would go on for HOURS. Look at LOTR, all of the movies were 3 hours long, and they werent nearly complete as far as the books went.

Get over it.
