When you learn about the sordid past of children's book publishing you learn about the epic battles waged between the Queen of Harper Collins, Ms. Ursula Nordstrom, and the Empress of New York Public Library, Ms. Anne Carroll Moore. Both are dead and gone and, by rights and association, I am bound to the Moore perspective. However, I was just amazed by a bit of gossip Roger was able to wrangle up regarding Anne Carroll Moore, the Newbery, and a connection to Viking that may have been less than on the up-and-up. Woooo!
