Gaiman Gets Goofy

Anglophiles take note. Your beloved French and Saunders are involved in the Coraline project. I kid you not. Dawn apparently did the audio book of Coraline and has been hooked on the story ever since.

I hated Coraline. It was very well written, I thought, but too scary!!!! It still scares me to think of those eyes...my child would never sleep again if she read it. I am usually Ms. Anti-Censor, but I warned my favorite independent children's bookseller to warn parents that it was very scary if they bought it. Brrr!!!

I loved "Coraline", myself. I was the kid who liked the dark books. Who wanted the scary creepy gothic stuff. I would have adored this one too. Besides... if the cover doesn't make clear the spookiness of the title, what clearer message can you send?

I don't know - I like lots of creepy books - loved The Folk Keeper - but Coraline...just too scary...it kind of creeps into your head and squats there!
