A Contemporary Little House Range War

If this is how the legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder is being treated, I hate to think of the potential fights over the Betsy-Tacy books.

Inside DeSmet Gifts, new proprietor Chad Kruse said he felt obliged to read all the Wilder books when he took over the business, and he did not sound happy about it.


"I'll summarize them for you," he said. "First, there was a hot summer. Then, there was a long winter. Then, the grasshoppers came. Then, there was a hot summer. Then, there was a long winter. Then, guess what? The grasshoppers came.''
