I do not think you can blame New York City for this. Perhaps the parents, perhaps the teens, but not the city.
I know. But what other city contains such critters as these?
I don't know if our area (SF Bay Area) has these high-priced tutors, but I know that there are lots of parents who wished there were. I tutor creative writing, and I charge $20/hour for a small group, and these parents are waiting in line to shell out this money. And then they all want advice on how to get their 10-year old into an Ivy League school.
Hey, I read that article, Fuse, and thought...hmmm...sounds like a darn good job :)
Oh, don't think that didn't occur to me. Let's see. How much do you think parents would shell out for me to teach their children basic library skills?*sigh*Yeah. That's what I thought too.
