Spielberg and Tin-Tin Sitting in a Tree

According to my husband, this has come up in the past before. On occasion, news articles will toss out the fact that Steven Spielberg has the rights to Tin-Tin and is on the brink of producing some kind of movie. Then nothing happens and everyone forgets about it for another 5 years. Now it looks like Dreamworks is, "gearing up for pre-production on the film." That still doesn't really mean anything, but I hope they realize that the time has never been riper for this movie to come out. I've kids practically begging me on bended knee for Tin-Tin books at NYPL all the time.

Of course, why Spielberg as a director? Isn't he the same guy that digitally removed guns from officers' hands when E.T. was re-released? How likely are we to see Tin-Tin sporting his usual array of firepower? Then again, maybe Mr. S just doesn't approve of adults carrying guns. Kids, though? Totally cool.

Thanks to bookshelves of doom for the link.

What's amazing is that, I dunno, more than a dozen years ago, producers gave me a couple Tin Tin books and said 'hey, what do you think we can do'? This has been going around at least that long, and I've talked to countless other writers who had similar experiences. Here's hoping it finally happens... just so it's done!
