Off Topic?

Marjane Satrapi writes graphic novels, yes. But she's definitely not for kids, and I'd daresay her work is too sophisticated for teens as well. She's an adult writer in the same vein as Art Spiegelman. But I'm damned if I'm gonna ignore this amazing news. A new book is in the works and there's going to be a movie version of Persepolis to boot.

Woo-hoo!

Her Persepolis graphic novels are extraordinary, and teens love them. I teach them in my YA lit class, and my students love them, too. She's an excellent intro to graphic novels for those unfamiliar and terrified of the genre.

She has a new picture book out called Monsters Are Afraid of the Moon. It's definitely for kids!
