A Picture From the Upcoming Horton Hears a Who Movie
I dunno. It kinda works for me. Maybe Seuss should have been CGIed from the start. Certainly his animated specials (with the exception of the Chuck Jones Grinch, of course), the puppetry, the musical, and the previous movie nonsense never looked quite as "right" as this. Or am I just trying to justify something I can never change?

I vote for the latter. It looks to me like a desperate attempt to breathe new life into something that doesn't need new life -- the old life was rolling along just fine.
I am far more skeptical than you that this movie can work. The Seuss Goes To The Movies track record is, as you know, abysmal. This won't be any different.
(Yes, I'm grumpy about it. This is one of my children's favorite books. I don't want it upended by a multimillion dollar computer-generated catastrophe.)
Well history is certainly on your side. Picture books do not make full length films. You might be able to stretch them out a little, but once they hit an hour on the screen something strange has to have taken place. I'm cautiously optimistic, but as I said before if there is a single fart joke in the trailer then poof goes my optimism.
The picture itself is encouraging. Visually I think it might be fantastic.
